AUSTIN (KXAN) — As more energy-efficient and electric vehicles make their way into the American market, transportation departments across the country are grappling with one key question: How do we fund future infrastructure projects without a dependable gas tax?Currently, Texas collects 20 cents per gallon on gasoline and diesel fuels' sales, according to the Comptroller of Public Accounts.
