St. Louis condemns apartment after FOX 2 report of horrible conditions ST. LOUIS - The City of St. Louis condemned a government-subsidized apartment that was home to a mother of four, Torreese Valentine, that FOX 2's You Paid For It team spotlighted earlier this week. After we reported on the horrible conditions at the unit, building inspectors and health department inspectors descended on the unit in north St. Louis."We recognize that there were all kinds of problems in this particular case," said Frank Oswald, St. Louis building commissioner. "We've done a condemnation on the property at this point."The inspectors found many serious problems. Besides the flood, there was sewage coming out of pipes and exposed wiring, a faulty kitchen sink where there was mold, and the list of problems went on and on. Top story: One officer hurt, one shot in St. Louis The building commissioner found so many issues that officials decided condemning the apartment was best for the mother. Now the property owner has 10 days to correct the problems. If they do not fix it p...

Punchless Rockies lose to Diamondbacks, waste Kyle Freeland’s strong start

Punchless Rockies lose to Diamondbacks, waste Kyle Freeland’s strong start The Rockies sure know how to spoil a good thing.Friday night at Coors Field they received a stellar start from Kyle Freeland and a highlight reel catch from rookie center fielder Brenton Doyle.Naturally, they lost to Arizona, 9-1, sliding to 8-19 overall. The culprits were familiar ones: a punchless offense (1-for-5 with runners in scoring position), and a shaky defense. A ninth-inning meltdown by the bullpen was just salt in the wound.Arizona right-hander Merrill Kelly limited Colorado to one run over six innings on six hits and one walk. He struck out five.C.J. Cron, who entered the game buried in a 2-for-21 slump, and who grounded into a rally-killing double play in the first inning, finally delivered in the third with an RBI single, making it 1-1. Cron steered Kelly’s 3-1 pitch into right field, scoring Ezequiel Tovar, who led off the inning with a single up the middle. But from that point on, the Rockies were stymied by Kelly and Arizona’s bullpen, not recording a hi...

Bucs pick OL Cody Mauch, DE Yaya Diaby on 2nd day of draft

Published Thu, 21 Nov 2024 22:12:52 GMT

Bucs pick OL Cody Mauch, DE Yaya Diaby on 2nd day of draft TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers addressed needs for an offensive lineman and edge rusher on the second day of the NFL draft, selecting North Dakota State tackle Cody Mauch in the second round and Louisville defensive end YaYa Diaby in the third on Friday night.Mauch fills a need created in part by the team’s decision to part ways with veteran left tackle Donovan Smith, who played poorly last season, when the Bucs struggled to protect Tom Brady and finished last in the league in rushing offense. While Brady threw for the third-most yards in the NFL and was one of the league’s least-sacked quarterbacks, that primarily was attributed to the seven-time Super Bowl’s ability to get the football out of his hands before being hit. With 2021 All-Pro Tristan Wirfs already preparing himself for the possibility of moving to left tackle for next season, Mauch eventually could get an opportunity to compete for the starting job Wirfs has held on the right side since bei...
