Pasadena animal shelter waiving some adoption fees in honor of Rose Parade

In celebration of the 135th Rose Parade, Pasadena Humane is waiving all adoption fees for dogs that weigh more than 40 pounds.The "Roses and Wet Noses" promotion is sponsored by the Pet Care Foundation and will run between Dec. 15 through the end of the year.The promotion aims to highlight the many large dogs that reside at Pasadena Humane, which the organization says make up the majority of its dog population.In addition to a new forever companion, adopters will also receive a gift bag with treats and other items for their newest family member.“With the holidays upon us, it is a wonderful time to give a shelter dog a forever home,” said Pasadena Humane CEO Dia DuVernet. “We hope that all our large dogs are able to watch the Rose Parade from the comfort of their newly adopted homes.” All adopted dogs will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on their latest vaccines. SAN JOSE — A man has been arrested again over the alleged assault last month of his girlfriend’s father in Willow Glen, after the victim recently died from his injuries, according to San Jose police.The inciting incident was reported around 12:45 p.m. on Nov. 13 after police were called to a home on Lester Avenue for a report of a family disturbance. SAN JOSE — A 73-year-old man has been identified as a pedestrian who died in a traffic collision in South San Jose late Friday afternoon, and police say a teen driver was involved in the fatal crash.San Jose police officers were called to Almaden Expressway south of Camden Avenue around 5:05 p.m. Friday and found that a red 2009 Toyota sedan had hit a man walking in the street. One of its five goals focuses on improving SJPD's officers' "wellness" and building a "police family." (KRON) -- An all clear has been given after a suspicious package was reported on the campus of West Valley College in Saratoga, according to a social media post from the college. The package was reported earlier at the college's Language Arts Building.It was later deemed safe, officials said. Security guard killed at Oakland 7-Eleven identified Fire department and police personnel are on the scene. People were earlier being advised to avoid the area until further notice.
